Description

A visit to Aruba will make it hard to go back to real life. Likewise, be warned that if you don't like perfect weather, soft white sandy beaches, warm Caribbean waters or waking up to the sound of lapping waves, then stay far away from the delightfully relaxing environment of Aruba. With a fabulous nightlife, a variety of water and land adventures, numerous spas, and a myriad of shopping opportunities, there's plenty in Aruba to keep you wondering how life could get any better.

    Quiet Beaches/Beautiful Weather

    09/25/13
If you are looking for a relaxing place to just sit by the pool or beach this is the place. After my husband and I were overwhelmed with families at the Marriott Vacation Club we visited a few remote beaches on the other side of the island. A drive through the residential area is a must. So many colorful houses!

There is also a ship wreck close to the surface so snorkling and snuba-ing is very interesting.

If you are venturing out for a meal on the town I recommend 2 Fools and A Bull. This prix fixe menu is served up by the owners themselves who just want to enjoy an evening with friends. This small place (18 seats) feels like home. I recommend making reservations.

Aruba is very pretty with clean beautiful beaches. What caused me to have some concern was that it was a bit too pretty and perfect. We decided to get in a taxi and go see the other side of the island. It was totally seedy, run down, and I got mistaken for a prostitute much to my husband's chagrin (not that I was dressed like one, just that I was on the street, so therefore must be for sale). Aruba is fine if you can stand being in a place that obviously caters to tourists and has little else to offer, I personally prefer a place with more character.

Although one often reads that Aruba/Bonaire/Curacao are safe from hurricanes, they did in fact get hit hard a few years ago. Lots of damage to the shallow coral reefs. Deeper reefs were not affected.

maybe one day i will get there.

Usually after 2PM the beach gets very windy and you will have to retreat to poolside at the motel.

    Kite Beach

With year round winds, nearby Kite Beach is one of the best kite surfing spots in the world. The location hosts international competitions in June.

    Natural Pool

Take a jeep tour to the remote Natural Pool where you can snorkel and swim in a protected pool of water surrounded by rocks sheltering you from the ocean on the other side. For a little more adventure, and at your own risk, you can also jump from the rocks into the pool.
