Best Known For
DescriptionIt's small, but it packs quite a punch. Ubud, a tiny Balinese town, is known primarily for being the home of the royal family. Despite its size, it's also home to a remarkable amount of galleries, arts performances, architecture and museums. The rich culture is further accented by the calm pace of the town which is far from the party towns in other areas of Bali. As tourism in Ubud has grown, the town has managed to stick to its roots. Instead of cheesy tourist destinations, visitors can see ancient temples and sculptures honoring the past. Everything in Ubud seems to go hand in hand with the landscape, which is beautifully traditional, as well. Rice paddies and sprawling river valleys make for peaceful scenery. For a modern experience, your options are pretty much limited to museums, although many of those feature historical artifacts, as well!
