Description

A visit to Queensland, Australia is brag-worthy whether you're a queen, king, or simply a frequent diner at Outback Steakhouse. The most famous of the six states in Australia, Queensland is home to a number of once-in-a-lifetime experiences-from natural wonders including the Great Barrier Reef, the Daintree National Park, and the Gondwana Rainforest to big city offerings like adventure sports, energetic nightlife, and kid-friendly theme parks and nature tours. You'll be shocked by how busy you are in such a small area of Australia, but there are truly limitless choices to fill your time. Warm, sunny weather is almost year-round, so cold and rain won't ruin your whale watching or exploration of the outback. Although, when you're belly is full of the best seafood and steak you've ever eaten and your view is of the pristine Gold Coast, not much could really ruin your mood.

Go north and GBR (please!)

09/30/13
If you are planning to go to Queensland you MUST make it to the Great Barrier Reef and organize a stay-on-a-boat diving trip. I would fly into Cairns (nice and probably the most humid city I've ever been at - please, follow signs about crocodiles). Also, you can't miss the Daintree Forest: so worth it. Visit other spots like Port Douglas or go south following your instinct... it's all marvellous.

Holiday in the Aussie Sunshine

09/13/13
Queensland is Australia's fun-in-the-sun holiday destination. From diving on the Great Barrier Reef to sailing through the Whitsunday Islands, there are activities to suit all ages and travel budgets. If you're looking for free or family-friendly activities in Queensland, try a hike through the Daintree Rainforest, enjoy a picnic lunch on Port Douglas beach, visit the weekend markets at Mt. Tamborine, or stroll along the gorgeous coasts of Mooloolaba and Maroochydore.

Before heading home, spend a weekend exploring Brisbane. Say hello to koalas and kangaroos at Australia Zoo, take in a show at QPAC (Queensland Performing Arts Center), and spend Sunday afternoon soaking up the sun and listening to live music on the Powerhouse lawn. Don't forget to fill up your suitcase with souvenirs from Brisbane's South Bank markets!

Great Barrier Reef

You can swim, snorkel, dive and sail the Great Barrier Reef. It stretches more than 2,000 kilometers along the Queensland coast, from the mainland towns of Port Douglas to Bundaberg. Hop between the pristine, palm-fringed islands on top, then explore the rainbow-colored coral islands and marine life below.
